Children on the Autistic Spectrum have difficulty modulating various forms of sensory information. Auditory processing issues are quite common and so are extreme sound sensitivities (fans, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, etc.)

Those with neurodevelopmental disorders often hear more throughout their whole bodies through bone than they do with just their ears. Feeling sound before hearing it can be very distressing and cause anxiety, anger, and frustration. Through a vibrating bone conductor built into customized headphones, our program uses sound to desensitize hypersensitivity, and train the ears to become the primary entrance for sound instead of the body. In conjunction with delivering filtered and gated music, the muscles in the middle ear are then better able to dampen harsh noises by adjusting the tension of the eardrum.

One of the greatest benefits of Sound Stimulation among Autistic children is an increased sense of engagement. As they become more comfortable in their bodies and environment children develop a new desire to connect more fully with those around them.

While no way a cure, Sound Stimulation and Auditory Training has proven to be an effective program for improving social, sensory, and behavioral issues often associated with Autism.

"If I had to point to one therapy that helped my autistic son the most in the 6 years since he was diagnosed with autism, it would be Tomatis-based sound simulation. We had tried everything from drugs to homeopathy and back again, but with this therapy, the results were dramatic. Simply put, my son was initially at one level of diagnosis and rose several levels above that. Sound stimulation therapy has given us pieces of our son we thought we might never experience. I wish all children with special needs could undergo this type of therapy so they can connect more fully with their parents - the way our son has with us."
